A woman from Mangaluru has come forward with serious allegations against a man who purportedly defrauded her of Rs 1.5 crore, claiming he could secure her a nomination to the Karnataka Legislative Council. The individual in question, identified as Yerriswamy, allegedly deceived the complainant by presenting himself as a media advisor for Congress leaders, thereby gaining her confidence through the display of photographs with prominent politicians. He purportedly asserted that a sum of Rs 5 crore would guarantee her a position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and is accused of collecting Rs 1.5 crore from her between August 2024 and January 2025.
The woman’s complaint details that Yerriswamy directed her to transfer the funds to his associates, named Siddaraju and Basavaraju. It is alleged that the money was collected at various locations, including near the Teachers’ House at Mysore Bank Circle and the KC General Hospital in Malleswaram. The complainant has indicated that she was misled into believing that these payments were necessary to secure her political aspirations, only to find herself the victim of a scam.
