A family dispute in Bengaluru escalated into violence when a father allegedly attacked his daughter, an assistant professor, at her workplace. The incident unfolded on July 25, around 3 PM, at a private college where Lakshmi Durga was employed. Her father, identified as Nagendra, reportedly confronted her regarding financial demands linked to her upcoming marriage, which ultimately led to the violent altercation. The college staff, believing it was a routine family visit, allowed Nagendra into the Head of Department’s office where Lakshmi was present. Shortly after entering, he allegedly produced a knife and stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen, chest, and neck before fleeing the scene. Lakshmi sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The police have revealed that the attack stemmed from ongoing tensions within the family regarding Lakshmi’s marriage. Nagendra, who works as a cab driver, had been actively searching for a suitable groom for his daughter. After a potential groom's family expressed interest in the marriage, Nagendra reportedly made a financial demand of Rs 40 lakh, claiming he had invested significantly in Lakshmi’s education and career. Furthermore, he allegedly insisted that her monthly salary be given to him, which sparked objections from both Lakshmi and her mother. These disagreements reportedly led to frequent arguments, increasing the strain within the family and ultimately culminating in the violent incident at the college.
