Noida Woman Faces Charges for Abusive Remarks Against PM Modi During Protest

A 25-year-old woman from Noida has been charged by local authorities for allegedly making offensive comments directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a protest held at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on July 23. The individual, identified as Ruchika Singh, is currently untraceable, prompting police efforts to locate her. Singh, who is originally from Faridabad and operates a beauty salon, reportedly acquired a flat in Noida earlier this year. The incident has drawn significant attention, leading to a formal complaint filed by a Supreme Court advocate.

The complaint was lodged by Smriti Singh, a resident of Vasundhara in Ghaziabad, who reported the incident to the Expressway Police Station on July 29. In her statement, she mentioned that she viewed a video capturing the protest where Ruchika Singh allegedly used vulgar language while addressing attendees. The complaint asserts that the remarks not only disrespected the dignity associated with the Prime Minister's constitutional role but also offended public sentiments, suggesting a deliberate attempt to incite unrest and disrupt societal harmony. Consequently, police initiated a Zero FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, to address the situation.
