Massive Cash and Gold Seized in West Bengal Police Raid

In a significant police operation in Mohammad Bazar, located in West Bengal's Birbhum district, authorities uncovered a staggering amount of nearly Rs 29 crore in cash along with 15 kilograms of gold. The raid, which commenced late Tuesday night, has drawn considerable attention from the public, with officials still engaged in counting the seized currency as of Wednesday evening. The operation took place at the residence of Minar Mondal, who is related to Tulu Mondal, a former government bus driver turned stone trader. Tulu Mondal is also known for his close ties with Anubrata Mondal, a former MLA from the Trinamool Congress, who recently aligned himself with Ritabrata Banerjee's faction earlier this month.

According to Birbhum Superintendent of Police Vidit Rai Bhundesh, the substantial cash and gold recovered are believed to be linked to an organized crime syndicate allegedly run by Tulu Mondal, his relative Minar, and others involved. The police acted on intelligence reports indicating that illegal assets were stored at the residence of Najibuddin, a close associate of Tulu Mondal. During the raid, officials successfully seized a considerable amount of cash and gold, suggesting that the premises were being utilized for syndicate operations. In connection with the investigation, one individual has been detained for questioning. The discovery of such a large sum of money and precious metals has prompted a broader inquiry into the origins of these assets and the alleged criminal network supporting them.
