Tragic Death of IIT Kharagpur Professor Sparks Investigation

A tragic incident unfolded at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur on Wednesday when the lifeless body of Dr. Deepak Reddy Pullaguram, a 36-year-old assistant professor from the Department of Electrical Engineering, was discovered in his staff quarters. The police reported that Dr. Pullaguram, originally hailing from Hyderabad, was found hanging from the ceiling of his room, prompting immediate concern and a thorough investigation. Kharagpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Siddarth Singh Dangi confirmed the details, stating, "The body of a professor of IIT Kharagpur has been recovered from his room. He was found hanging from the ceiling. We are investigating the case." The security personnel at the institute were the first to discover the body and promptly alerted the authorities.

Upon receiving the report, police officials quickly arrived at the scene, where they recovered the body and initiated a case of unnatural death. Following standard procedure, the deceased was transported to the BC Roy Hospital located within the IIT-Kharagpur campus, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. The body has since been sent for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
