On July 30, Indian stock markets experienced a positive turnaround, ending the trading session higher after a day marked by volatility. The benchmark indices, BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, managed to recover from early losses that were influenced by global worries regarding US interest rates and rising crude oil prices. Late-session buying in key sectors such as auto and oil & gas, alongside select heavyweight stocks, provided the necessary momentum to lift the markets above their initial dips. The BSE Sensex concluded the day at 77,928.15, reflecting an increase of 273.55 points, or 0.35%. Similarly, the Nifty 50 saw a gain of 66.95 points, or 0.28%, closing at 24,317.15.
The trading day began with a downward trend, primarily due to the US Federal Reserve's recent hawkish stance on monetary policy and escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, as the session progressed, buying interest in heavyweight stocks helped both indices recover and close positively. Among the sectoral performances, the Nifty Auto index stood out as the top performer, surging by 1.63%, driven by gains from major players like Maruti Suzuki, which rose by 1.77%, and Mahindra & Mahindra, which saw an increase of 2.01%. The Oil & Gas sector also contributed positively, advancing by 0.46%, while other sectors such as Media, Consumer Durables, PSU Banks, and Metals finished in the green as well. In contrast, the Nifty IT index, despite experiencing some gains, ended the day slightly up by 0.23%, with stocks like Tech Mahindra, HCLTech, and LTIMindtree providing support.
