Hygiene Scandal at Mumbai Play Zone: Cockroach Found in Kids' Meal

A significant hygiene issue has emerged at Pokiddo Junior, a well-known children's play area located in Lower Parel, Mumbai. The controversy began when a concerned parent reported discovering a cockroach in a bowl of pasta that had already been partially consumed by children. This alarming revelation has sparked serious discussions regarding the establishment's food safety protocols and overall cleanliness. The incident took place at the play zone situated within Raghuvanshi Mills on Senapati Bapat Marg, and the parent took to social media to share disturbing images and videos of the situation. Alongside the discovery of the cockroach in the meal, the parent also noted that the seating area was infested with dead cockroaches, labeling the environment as “completely unacceptable” and expressing deep concern for the health and safety of the children who frequent the venue.

In the social media post, the parent urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to launch an immediate investigation into the matter and enforce stringent measures to avert similar occurrences in the future. This complaint arises during a period when the Maharashtra FDA is intensifying its efforts to ensure food safety across the state. Recent inspections have led to the suspension of licenses for various well-known restaurants and club kitchens in Mumbai, where inspectors reportedly found live cockroaches, flies, unsanitary conditions, and improper food storage practices. The timing of this complaint highlights the growing public concern over food safety standards in the region, especially in establishments catering to children.
