Three Indians Kidnapped in Thailand for Ransom of ₹70 Lakh

Thai authorities have apprehended five Indian individuals in connection with the kidnapping of three fellow Indians, who were held captive for nearly a week while their families were extorted for a ransom of ₹70 lakh. This alarming incident has drawn attention to a sophisticated cross-border network of kidnapping and extortion, allegedly orchestrated by a criminal mastermind based in Pakistan and operating out of Dubai. The investigation reveals a troubling trend of organized crime targeting unsuspecting tourists through enticing but deceptive travel offers.

The ordeal began when three young Indian men, aged between 23 and 26, were lured to Thailand under the guise of an affordable seven-day holiday package. Each victim reportedly paid approximately 70,000 Thai baht, equivalent to around ₹2 lakh, for what they believed would be a fun getaway. However, upon their arrival at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on July 21, the situation took a dark turn. They were taken by taxi to Pattaya, where they met an Indian man at a fast-food outlet. Shortly after, the victims were separated and transported on motorcycles to a house in Bang Lamung, where they were allegedly confined and held against their will.
