As India embarks on a new chapter of economic development, a clear message emerged during the News18 Rising Bharat Summit – South Regional Edition held in Bengaluru: the narrative of enterprise in the country is no longer confined to a single sector or state. Instead, South India is playing a pivotal role in shaping the ideas, policies, and institutions that will drive the nation’s future across various sectors including technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and governance. The summit highlighted the collaborative efforts of states in the region, emphasizing that their combined growth is essential for the overall prosperity of India.
The summit featured discussions among ministers from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, each sharing unique insights into their respective growth trajectories. Despite differing priorities, a common goal resonated throughout the event: to foster globally competitive industries, expand opportunities beyond traditional economic centers, and ensure that growth is inclusive and equitable. Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri D. K. Shivakumar, articulated this vision in his keynote address, stressing the importance of cooperative federalism. He stated, “When Karnataka grows, India will grow. When Tamil Nadu succeeds, India will succeed. When Telangana innovates, India will innovate. When Andhra Pradesh exports, India will export… This is the true meaning of cooperative federalism.” His remarks underscored the notion that South India is integral to the nation’s economic advancement.
