Saudi Arabia Secures Hosting Rights for Asian Champions League Finals

Saudi Arabia has officially been granted the hosting rights for the next three editions of the Asian Champions League Elite finals, following a decision made by the Asian Football Confederation’s executive committee. This confirmation solidifies the provisional hosting rights that had previously been awarded to the nation. The country has already successfully hosted the first two editions of this prestigious tournament, which features a centralized venue for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. This restructuring of the continent's leading club competition took place ahead of the 2024/2025 season, marking a significant shift in how the tournament is organized.

The Jeddah-based football club, Al-Ahli, has emerged victorious in both finals held in the city, showcasing their dominance in the competition. They first claimed the title by defeating Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in 2025, followed by a win against Machida Zelvia, also from Japan, in May of the previous year. The upcoming edition of the tournament promises to be even more competitive, as the league phase will expand from 24 to 32 teams, allowing for a broader representation of clubs from across the region. The qualifying rounds are set to commence on August 11, with the draw for the league phase scheduled for August 18 in Kuala Lumpur, and matches beginning on September 14.
