2027 ODI World Cup Venues Announced for South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the twelve venues that will host matches during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, a prestigious event that will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. This tournament marks a significant moment in cricket history, as it will be the first time Namibia has hosted a senior ICC event, while South Africa and Zimbabwe will contribute their rich cricketing heritage to the occasion. With eight venues in South Africa and three in Zimbabwe, the tournament is set to showcase the best of African cricket.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed his enthusiasm for the announcement, emphasizing its importance in the lead-up to the tournament. He stated that the revelation of the host cities and the branding of the tournament signifies the beginning of an exciting journey that aims to unite cricket fans globally and build anticipation for one of the sport's most significant events. Shah highlighted the importance of this tournament returning to the African continent after a 24-year hiatus, calling it a landmark occasion for cricket. He expressed confidence that the three host nations would deliver an unforgettable experience, showcasing the warmth, passion, and diverse culture that characterize the region.

The 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup will feature a total of 57 matches and will introduce a new tournament format designed to enhance competition. A Super Series will take place involving teams ranked 12th to 14th, determining the final qualifier for the main event. This qualifier will join 11 other teams in the league stage, which will consist of two groups of six teams each. Each team will compete against the others in its group once, resulting in 30 matches during this initial phase. The top three teams from each group, along with the best-placed team across both groups, will progress to the Super 7 stage, which will feature 21 round-robin matches. Following this, the top four teams will move on to the semi-finals, with the winners of those matches competing in the final for the championship title.
