Delhi Premier League 2026: Everything You Need to Know

The highly anticipated 2026 season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is set to commence on Friday, July 31, at the renowned Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. This season promises to showcase some of the finest cricketing talent from the region, as eight teams compete in the league's third edition. The matches will be held exclusively at this iconic venue, culminating in a thrilling final scheduled for August 30. A total of 57 matches will unfold under the auspices of the Delhi and District Cricket Association, with each team facing off against one another twice. The top four teams will then advance to the playoffs, which will adopt a format reminiscent of the Indian Premier League (IPL), allowing the top two teams to compete in Qualifier 1, thereby providing them with two opportunities to reach the final.

In the opening match, the Central Delhi Kings, captained by Yash Dhull, who led India to victory in the 2022 U-19 World Cup, will take on the Purani Delhi 6, led by Anuj Rawat, a prominent player for the Gujarat Titans and former Royal Challengers Bengaluru star. Rawat expressed his excitement about leading Purani Dilli 6, stating, "It is an honour to captain Purani Dilli 6. We have assembled a balanced squad with a good mix of experienced and young players. The atmosphere around the league is fantastic, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our home fans. The aim is to play positive cricket and give our best in every match."
