Lovepreet Singh Wins Silver in Weightlifting at 2026 Commonwealth Games

In a remarkable display of strength and skill, Lovepreet Singh, a 28-year-old weightlifter from India, secured a silver medal in the men’s +110kg category at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. This achievement marks another significant milestone in his burgeoning athletic career. Singh lifted a total of 388kg, narrowly missing out on the gold medal by just one kilogram, as New Zealand's David Andrew Liti clinched the top spot with a total of 389kg. The competition was intense, showcasing not only physical prowess but also strategic acumen from both competitors and their teams, which added an exciting layer to the event.

Lovepreet's performance was nothing short of extraordinary, as he set a new Commonwealth Games record in the snatch with an impressive lift of 176kg. Born on September 6, 1997, in Bal Sachandar village, located near Amritsar in Punjab, Lovepreet's journey into the world of weightlifting began at the tender age of 13, inspired by local athletes.
