Hyderabad Police Investigates Meta India for Morphed PM Modi Content

The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have initiated legal action against the head of Meta India and several operators of Facebook and Instagram accounts due to allegations surrounding the distribution of altered and inappropriate videos and images targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This action follows complaints from supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who claimed that manipulated content portraying the Prime Minister in a derogatory and misleading light was being disseminated on these social media platforms during the agitation led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) regarding the NEET paper leak.

The first complaint was lodged by S Aravind Reddy, a 29-year-old businessman, who reported encountering numerous morphed and AI-generated visuals of Modi while browsing Instagram. Reddy's allegations included the presence of edited images that depicted the Prime Minister alongside Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as a manipulated image featuring former US President Donald Trump. He expressed concerns that such posts could mislead the public, propagate misinformation, incite hatred and unrest, violate public decency, defame public figures, disrupt public order, and foster animosity among various societal groups.
