Delhi BJP Demands Resignation of Punjab Education Minister Over Exam Paper Leaks

On Thursday, the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a demonstration outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office located near Mandi House, calling for the resignation of Punjab's Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains. This protest was sparked by allegations of exam paper leaks that reportedly occurred during the tenure of the current state government, which has been in power for over four years. The rally was led by Harsh Malhotra, the president of the Delhi BJP, who, along with party members, gathered at the AAP headquarters on Ferozshah Road. They accused the Punjab government of failing to protect the integrity of the education system, claiming that six different exam papers had been compromised, which they argue has jeopardized the futures of approximately 3 million students across the state.

In response to these allegations, AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal defended his party's record, asserting that no paper leaks had occurred during their governance in Punjab. He acknowledged an incident where some students attempted to cheat using digital pens during an examination at two centers but emphasized that these attempts were thwarted, and no papers were leaked. The BJP, however, remained steadfast in its accusations, with several party officials, including MPs and MLAs, participating in the protest to voice their concerns over the alleged malpractice. The BJP's claims were further fueled by recent events, including a protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, which resulted in the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan following a NEET paper leak scandal.
