The Cyber Crime Police in Bengaluru have initiated an investigation following the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the operators of three Instagram accounts. This action comes in response to allegations of an obscene and defamatory video that targets Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. The FIR was officially registered on July 27, after a complaint was lodged by a member of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Legal Cell. The complainant reported discovering the controversial video on July 25, which had been uploaded on July 16 by the Instagram account 'ground.reality_india'. The video reportedly included Rahul Gandhi's image alongside explicit and derogatory remarks, raising concerns about its intent to insult and defame the prominent Congress leader.
According to the details outlined in the complaint, the post not only featured inappropriate content but also attracted a barrage of abusive comments from various users. The FIR highlights that some of these comments contained sexually explicit language and derogatory remarks aimed at women, further exacerbating the situation. The complainant expressed concern that the comments section had become a breeding ground for the dissemination of offensive material. In light of these developments, the complainant has urged law enforcement to take action against not only the individual responsible for uploading the video but also those who contributed to the objectionable commentary beneath it. This call for accountability reflects a growing concern over the impact of social media on public discourse.
