This shift indicates a broader evolution in the way Indians approach their holidays, moving away from mere sightseeing towards more immersive experiences that enrich their understanding of a place's history, cuisine, traditions, music, and people.

The Skyscanner report highlights that 61% of respondents have reported spending more time engaging with local cultures compared to five years ago, signaling a growing desire for deeper engagement during travel. Food, in particular, has emerged as a primary motivator for many travelers. The joy of sampling regional delicacies, participating in cooking classes, or exploring bustling local markets is now viewed as equally significant as visiting historical sites or enjoying breathtaking views. Additionally, 59% of those surveyed believe that cultural experiences enhance their connection to a destination, while 48% feel that such journeys have heightened their appreciation for India's rich cultural tapestry. This trend is contributing to the rise of domestic cultural tourism, as travelers increasingly opt for experiences centered around local festivals, traditional art forms, culinary explorations, and heritage walks.
