Abhijeet Dipke Calls for Action Against Police Violence at Student Protests

Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), has made headlines with his recent demands for accountability regarding police actions during a protest at Jantar Mantar on July 20. The protest, which was part of a larger movement against the NEET paper leak, saw significant unrest, leading to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Dipke, who has just returned home after a month-long demonstration in New Delhi, expressed his concerns about the ongoing harassment faced by student activists. He emphasized that if such intimidation continues, the youth may take drastic measures to change the government. Dipke's remarks came as he addressed reporters at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar airport, where he highlighted the troubling trend of police visiting the homes of student activists and threatening them with arrest. He stated, 'The government should behave well now. The blood of students was spilled on the streets on July 20 during the March to Parliament. It was really bad. Wasn't it enough, now that the students are still being troubled?' His comments reflect a growing frustration among students and activists regarding the treatment they have received from authorities.

In addition to calling for action against those who ordered the use of pellet guns against demonstrators, Dipke warned that the government should not underestimate the anger of the student community following Pradhan's resignation. He specifically mentioned that accountability should extend to high-ranking officials, including Home Minister Amit Shah, stating, 'Whether it be Amit Shah or anyone else, action should be taken against the person who gave orders to fire pellet guns.' He further asserted that if the government continues to provoke students, they might resort to a larger scale agitation. 'These students are not terrorists. They are the future of our country. If the future of the country is troubled in such a way, just as Dharmendra Pradhan had to step down... Tomorrow, we will go and change the government if it doesn't fall in line,' he warned. Dipke's comments underscore the deep-seated discontent among students regarding their treatment by the government and the police.
