Abhijeet Dipke Warns of Renewed Protests Over Paper Leak Legislation

Abhijeet Dipke, the Founding President of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), issued a stern warning to the government on Wednesday, indicating that fresh protests could erupt if the First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against students are not rescinded. His comments come in the wake of the Lok Sabha's passage of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, which aims to implement stricter regulations to combat the issue of paper leaks in examinations. Despite recent developments, Dipke emphasized that public discontent remains palpable, suggesting that the anger among students has not diminished.

The amendment bill was approved through a voice vote, amidst a backdrop of uproar from the Opposition, which included a walkout triggered by remarks made by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In his critique of the amendment, Dipke asserted that mere reforms would not suffice to address the underlying issues unless there is a fundamental shift in the intentions of those involved. He stated, "There are numerous reforms in place, yet without a change in people's intentions, nothing will truly improve." He also highlighted the inefficiencies in the judicial process, noting that the inaugural hearing of the fast-track court established to handle paper leak cases was delayed due to the absence of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) counsel.
