Delhi Police Urges Ride-Sharing and Delivery Services to Limit Operations Amid Protests

In response to the ongoing protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in central Delhi, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Friday, July 24, urging app-based transportation and delivery services to limit their operations in areas affected by prohibitory orders. This directive comes in the wake of heightened security measures, including the closure of several Delhi Metro stations and the imposition of restrictions in various parts of the national capital to ensure public safety and maintain order. The police emphasized the importance of these measures to safeguard drivers, delivery personnel, and the general public during the protests.

The advisory specifically targets cab aggregators, food delivery platforms, quick-commerce companies, and logistics operators, advising them to consider geo-fencing or temporarily suspending their services in zones where prohibitory orders under Section 163 are enforced. This request aims to alleviate congestion and enhance emergency access in the affected areas, as thousands of protesters have gathered near significant locations such as Jantar Mantar. Authorities are urging citizens to refrain from unnecessary travel to these restricted zones and to cooperate with the police forces deployed to manage the situation effectively.
