The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the initiation of a significant series of airstrikes targeting Iranian military installations. This military action follows a recent missile assault on American forces by Iran, which escalated tensions in the region. CENTCOM's statement revealed that the strikes occurred early on Thursday and successfully targeted numerous sites associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Among the facilities hit were military command centers, drone and missile production sites, coastal defense installations, and maritime capabilities. This escalation comes shortly after US President Donald Trump vowed to retaliate forcefully against Iran for its attacks on a base in Jordan housing US troops.

Reports from Tehran indicate that the strikes were particularly focused on Iran's southern provinces, especially those near the Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Al Jazeera correspondent Resul Serdar noted that the explosions were powerful enough to be heard in the port city of Bandar Abbas, raising concerns about potential damage to civilian infrastructure. Iranian officials reported that a residential building on Qeshm Island was struck, resulting in injuries and trapping individuals beneath the debris.
