A video featuring activist Sonam Wangchuk confronting hospital staff at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital has gone viral, capturing significant attention across social media platforms. In the footage, Wangchuk is seen questioning the staff about his inability to leave the hospital, urging them to either allow him to exit or to arrest him. This incident has sparked a flurry of reactions from viewers, with many expressing their opinions on Wangchuk's behavior and the circumstances surrounding the event.
The confrontation took place on July 21, coinciding with a directive from the Delhi High Court which ordered Wangchuk's transfer to a hospital of his choosing. He had been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on July 18 after being removed from the Jantar Mantar protest site, where he was conducting a hunger strike. In the video, Wangchuk appears visibly distressed as he addresses both hospital personnel and police officers stationed outside his room. "Ask them to arrest me. Why are you keeping me here? You are all harassing me. If I die from stress, it will be your responsibility. Please let me go; arrest me if you wish. Shameless people," he can be heard saying.
