Activist Sonam Wangchuk Challenges Hospital Staff in Viral Confrontation

A video depicting the tense moments of activist Sonam Wangchuk inside Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital has gained significant attention online. In this footage, Wangchuk is seen expressing his frustration towards hospital personnel and a police officer while insisting on his right to leave the medical facility. The incident took place on July 21, the same day the Delhi High Court ordered that Wangchuk be transferred to a hospital of his choosing. Previously, he had been moved to Safdarjung Hospital from the Jantar Mantar protest site on July 18, where he was engaged in a hunger strike to advocate for his cause.

The viral video captures a visibly distressed Wangchuk as he confronts the staff, questioning the rationale behind his continued stay at the hospital. He accuses the authorities of harassment, stating, "Ask them to arrest me. Why are you keeping me here? You all are harassing me. If I die of stress, it’ll be your responsibility. Please open; I’m going. Arrest me if you want. Shameless people." His emotional plea highlights the desperation he feels regarding his situation, showcasing the tension between his activism and the medical establishment.
