India has been actively engaged in arms sales to Israel, raising alarms over the potential complicity in the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, as highlighted by a recent report from Amnesty International. The organization, based in the UK, has pointed out that India's military exports to Israel could be contributing to what it describes as a genocide against the Palestinian population in the region. This report, which was shared with Al Jazeera, emphasizes the deepening military ties between India and Israel, suggesting that India has become a critical player in supplying arms that support Israel's military operations.
The Amnesty report details a staggering analysis of 2,596 shipments of military equipment and components sent from India to Israel since October 7, 2023, marking the onset of a significant Israeli offensive in Gaza. Among the items exported are over 390,000 parts for small arms, nearly 565,000 components related to explosive ordnance, and various military vehicle parts. Amnesty International has meticulously tracked these shipments, ensuring that only those intended for military use were included in their findings. This scrutiny highlights the role of Indian companies in bolstering Israel's military capabilities, with specific attention given to the types of arms being exported. The report also references Indian customs documents that classify these exports under specific codes related to military equipment, further substantiating the claims of ongoing arms trade.
