Delhi Experiences Coldest July Day in Three Years Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

On July 30, Delhi is set to experience another day characterized by active monsoon conditions, as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather forecast indicates a predominantly overcast sky, with expectations of moderate rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. Residents can anticipate light to moderate rainfall during the morning hours, followed by thunderstorms and lightning that may continue into the night. The temperature is projected to reach a maximum of around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover near 25 degrees Celsius. Additionally, humidity levels are likely to remain elevated, fluctuating between 80% and 95%, contributing to a muggy atmosphere across the city.

This weather forecast follows a day of significant rainfall that brought the city to a near standstill on July 29. Heavy monsoon showers led to widespread waterlogging, severe traffic jams, fallen trees, localized flooding, and power outages in various parts of the national capital. According to the IMD, this day marked the highest rainfall recorded in Delhi for the year thus far, and it was also noted as the coldest July day in the past three years. The Safdarjung weather station, which serves as the city's primary weather monitoring site, reported a total of 57.6 mm of rain from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Meanwhile, Pusa recorded the highest rainfall in the area, with an impressive 88.5 mm during the same timeframe.
