Ex-Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan Allegedly Abducted by Punjab Police

Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, a former senator and prominent advocate for human rights in Pakistan, has reportedly been abducted by Punjab Police while en route to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Pakistan Rights Movement (PRM) released a statement detailing the incident, which occurred on July 28, indicating that Khan was intercepted without an arrest warrant or any formal charges. His current whereabouts and condition remain unknown, raising significant concerns about his safety and legal rights.

According to the PRM, Khan and his team were traveling to PoK to express solidarity with families affected by recent violence involving security forces. They were stopped at the Azad Pattan Bridge, where they were denied entry into the region. Following this, Khan protested the decision and began to return to Islamabad. However, the PRM claims that Punjab Police personnel intercepted his vehicle at Kahuta Bazar around 7:07 PM. Reports suggest that the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Waqar, forcibly took control of the vehicle, driving it away with Khan still inside, while other vehicles in the convoy were temporarily halted before being allowed to proceed.
