NEET UG 2026 Counselling to Enhance Student Experience, Says JP Nadda

On Wednesday, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda conducted a comprehensive review of the Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC) preparations for the NEET UG Counselling 2026. During this meeting, he underscored the necessity for a counselling process that is not only seamless and transparent but also heavily reliant on technology, aimed at assisting the vast number of medical aspirants nationwide. Nadda urged officials to adopt proactive strategies to address any concerns raised by candidates, ensuring that the admission process is as student-friendly as possible. This review was particularly focused on evaluating the readiness of the counselling infrastructure and the reforms that have been implemented to streamline the admission process for undergraduate medical courses, which are critical for aspiring doctors and healthcare professionals.

The MCC has introduced several initiatives designed to enhance the experience of candidates participating in NEET UG Counselling 2026. Among these initiatives is the implementation of a one-time physical reporting requirement at the designated institutions, which is expected to simplify the process for students. Additionally, online document verification has been introduced to minimize delays and reduce the need for candidates to travel frequently, which can be both time-consuming and costly. Special provisions have also been made for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) to ensure their full participation in the counselling process. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has articulated that these reforms are intended to foster greater transparency, alleviate logistical challenges, and ultimately provide a more streamlined counselling experience for all candidates involved.
