As the Kanwar Yatra approaches, commuters in Ghaziabad are advised to brace for significant traffic disruptions that will affect travel throughout the city. The Kanwar Yatra, which draws thousands of devotees, will lead to phased road diversions, closures, and alterations to public transport services, all of which will remain in effect until August 12. Local authorities are urging drivers to familiarize themselves with the latest diversion plans prior to embarking on their journeys, as these may be adjusted based on the movement of the Kanwariyas, who are expected to flock to the area in large numbers.
To ensure the safety and smooth passage of the devotees, approximately 3,500 police officers will be deployed along the 126 kilometers of Kanwar routes that traverse Ghaziabad. This extensive security operation has been meticulously organized, with the routes segmented into 157 beats and 502 static duty points established to monitor the situation. The security measures will also include the use of 100 Police Response Vehicles, 16 Quick Response Teams, eight watchtowers, and 10 control rooms, including a primary control center located at Meerut Crossing. Additionally, authorities plan to utilize tethered drones at the Upper Ganga Canal in Muradnagar, which serves as a crucial gathering point for Kanwariyas arriving from Haridwar, enhancing surveillance and coordination.
