The Energos Winter, which is a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), has a substantial storage capacity of 138,250 cubic meters. It is owned by Energos Infrastructure, a U.S.-based company, while Wilhelmsen Ship Management oversees its technical, safety, and commercial operations. This incident unfolded just hours after the United States and Saudi Arabia conducted military strikes against Iran-aligned paramilitary groups in Iraq, following what the U.S. claimed were attacks on its forces in the region. President Donald Trump expressed a strong commitment to retaliate against Iran after Tehran admitted to launching missiles at U.S. bases in Jordan and targeting vessels in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
