Ramayana Trailer Launch Tied to Hindu Month Shravana

The highly anticipated trailer for the film adaptation of the Ramayana, featuring notable actors such as Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is set to debut at an unusual hour of 4:15 AM on July 30. This timing has been deliberately chosen for its spiritual significance within Hindu traditions. While many might question the decision to unveil the trailer in the early morning rather than during daylight hours, filmmakers Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra have aligned the release with a moment deemed auspicious according to Hindu beliefs. The initial release date was slated for July 24, but it was postponed to July 30, coinciding with the Hindu lunar month of Shravana, which is revered for its spiritual importance.

Shravana, recognized as the fifth month in the Hindu calendar, is a time of great significance for Hindus across the country. This month heralds the onset of a festive season that includes major celebrations such as Janmashtami and Raksha Bandhan, among others. Traditionally, Shravana is also referred to as Ramayana Maas, a period when communities would gather to hear recitations of the Ramayana, fostering a sense of cultural continuity. This practice of public storytelling was a vital way to preserve the epic's legacy, allowing the teachings and tales of the Ramayana to be passed down through generations. In North India, Shravana is observed from July 30 to August 28, while in Western India, it spans from August 13 to September 10, marking a time of communal celebration and reflection.
