AMD Unveils RX 9050 Graphics Card for Budget 1080p Gaming at $279

AMD has introduced a new addition to its Radeon series, the RX 9050, targeting entry-level gamers with a price tag of $279. This graphics card is designed specifically for 1080p gaming, focusing on performance rather than competing for top benchmark scores. Built on a modified version of the Navi 44 chip, which is also utilized in the more powerful Radeon RX 9060 XT, the RX 9050 features 16 Compute Units and 1,024 stream processors. This configuration is approximately half the core count of its more robust counterpart. Additionally, it includes 16 ray accelerators, 32 AI accelerators, and 32MB of Infinity Cache, paired with 8GB of GDDR6 memory on a 128-bit bus, allowing for a bandwidth of up to 288GB/s.

The RX 9050 operates at a game clock speed of 1,920MHz, with the capability to boost up to 2,600MHz. AMD has rated the card's total board power at a mere 92W, making it suitable for older systems that may not have high-capacity power supplies or advanced cooling solutions. AMD is marketing this card as ideal for 1080p gaming at medium settings, providing benchmark results that include 60 FPS in 007: First Light, 96 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077, 131 FPS in Forza Horizon 6, and 85 FPS in Pragmata. For competitive gaming, the RX 9050 excels even further, reportedly achieving up to 227 FPS in Counter-Strike 2 and an impressive 593 FPS in Valorant. However, it is crucial to note that these benchmarks were conducted using a high-end Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, which may not reflect the performance of the RX 9050 when paired with more budget-friendly processors.
