Pakistan Plans to Invite PM Modi for 2027 SCO Summit in Islamabad

Pakistan has indicated that it intends to extend an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upcoming 2027 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, which is set to take place in Islamabad. This announcement was made during a press briefing by a spokesperson from Pakistan’s Foreign Office, who emphasized that invitations will be sent to all heads of state of the SCO member countries, thereby including India in the process. The spokesperson stated, 'The invitation is an obligation of the host country and will be issued according to the established SCO protocol,' highlighting the formalities that govern such diplomatic engagements. This move signifies Pakistan's commitment to uphold the established norms of the SCO, which is a vital platform for regional cooperation and dialogue.

The 2027 SCO Summit will mark an important occasion as Pakistan assumes the role of host under the organization's rotating presidency system.
